[RVInternetBySatellite] Epilogue: DW7000 broke

The rest of the story:
Replaced all cables with brand, spankin' new ones. Still had ss
fluctuating 53-30-48-12-50-15 almost constantly. We assumed there were
some trees leafing out/growing branches & plain just quit. We had decent
park wifi so didn't worry about it.

Yesterday, moved to another park. Spent an hour trying to get a decent
signal (83W|1390); then spent 3 hours trying to get an ACP test to run,
let alone get a pass. Eventually got a pass = 56. Left the RV for 3
hours & came back to only 2 lights on (LAN & Power). Power cycled modem
several times, uploaded newest config file (thanks Terry for making it
available & thanks DonB for hosting the instructions), re-pointed,
switched cables, etc. Quit again. Two hours later, modem lights came on.
At 2:30 am, still had all 5 lights. Today 8 am only LAN & Power. Repeat
above steps.

Then, my husband did what he's been wanting to do for 2+ weeks: he
tapped alongside the LNB head with a mallet. SS went up to 62, ran Reg
Inst all the way through & now have all 5 lights & good surfing. This is
even with old cables on.

I still don't know if the problem is the modem, the transmitter or LNB
or ???. Short of finding a kind-hearted, good-natured, fellow-tripoder
to switch out parts with, is there a way to trouble-shoot this?
