System acted weird for several days, (Tx & Sys lights flashing off &
on); seemed slow but online, lots of errors. Today we decided to re-peak
signal, thinking that would improve speed/connection. All we did was
raise tripod to full height; ss was 62 for a brief moment & dropped to
15 before I could even get to ACP page. There followed several hours of:
cable switching/cleaning; power cycling modem; rebooting computer;
removing router from path. Never got another signal other than 15. D/l'd
PC PCI, thinking OPI had quit. That wouldn't work at all. Finally, last
time of moving power supply to another electric outlet.....no power
light on modem. Power supply tested ok using voltmeter (6.5). Yes, other
devices work in same outlet.
Did I wear it out??? One power cycle too many?? This means I need a
new modem...yes?
I can't remember the various suggestions that have been posted but can a
used DW7000 be commissioned on my account, assuming it's not locked? I
assume a used HN7000s can be commissioned likewise? Wondering if I
should take my chances with a used electronic device or just go to
Hughes & get a new one w/new contract? Any opinions or prior experience
would be welcome.
Thanks.
