[RVInternetBySatellite] cannot read signal strength

Problem is fixed but I am very curious. Hughes tripod system had not been used for 6+ months. Account was not put on hold. When we set up the system we could not get a signal strength reading on opi, or pc opi, over 25. Sat is 89w. Since I have a Motosat we ran cables from my dish to the tripod modem. Still no signal over 25. We then ran the tripod cables to my modem and all is good with a 60+ strength. Turns out Hughes changed the transponder and the sw in the modem while the tripod and modem were not in use. My question is: Why couldn't we set up the tripod and lock onto the sat? I thought that we could even use a different sat to get the modem back up and running and then move back to our assigned sat? What am I missing?
