RE: [RVInternetBySatellite] Re: DW7000 modem quit | 83/1390 Chapter 392

You're obviously having cable problems. Connecting a cable to the modem and
having it consistently do something bad is clearly a clue that you have
something wrong with that cable - a short most likely. By "that cable", I
mean not only that cable but everything connected electrically to that
cable.

The power light flashing means that the modem has returned to factory
defaults and is not commissioned, so you will have to go all the way through
registration-installer again.

Now, on your cables - bypass every short piece of cable or connection doodad
that you have and connect one pair of cables directly between the connectors
on the LNB and radio to the modem. If that works, then add your short pieces
of cable back into the mix one at a time. The moment you have trouble, take
the piece of cable you just added in, remove it and throw it away. Same for
ground blocks or any other barrel connectors that you have.

Subject: [RVInternetBySatellite] Re: DW7000 modem quit | 83/1390 Chapter 392

Today's episode finds:
Modem lights will go on only if tx cable not attached.
Switched both cables to 1st position gizmos on the offset adapter
(block?). Got lights!
Finally completed Reg-Inst (passed ACP w/62), restarted modem & all 5
lights returned. ss = 60
Surfed for approximately 3" then all lights went out. Power cycled, no
lights.
Attached cables directly from feedhorn cables to cables to modem,
bypassing block (?).
All modem lights returned briefly, maybe 1.5".
Power light now flashing constantly, every 5-10 seconds. Other lights
flashing intermittently.

I forget what power light flashing means, maybe modem not commissioned?
Except I just completed Reg Inst successfully.

I be stumped. Ideas? Does all this wild light flashing mean the modem is
just teasing me & it's really toast? Anyone got a good DW7000 or HN 7000
to sell?

If I call Hughes & they want to sell me a 9000, what's my excuse
(besides the truth) that I don't want no stinkin' 9000?

Thank you for your help.
